Position Summary
The Office Intern will provide data entry, outreach, clerical, and administrative support to WIOA program staff at the Wayne American Job Center. This position supports day-to-day program operations by helping maintain accurate records, organizing files, assisting with customer follow-up, updating spreadsheets, preparing materials, and supporting onsite events and activities.
This role is ideal for an individual who is organized, dependable, comfortable using technology, and interested in gaining hands-on experience in workforce development, customer service, program support, and office administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Office Intern may assist with the following:

Perform filing, file maintenance, and file audits.

Complete timely and accurate data entry.

Assist with tracking program information, customer activity, and service data.

Maintain and update spreadsheets, reports, and internal tracking tools.

Contact customers by phone, email, or other approved communication methods to schedule meetings, testing, appointments, and follow-up activities.

Provide appointment reminders and assist with follow-up on customer employment status.

Document customer contacts, services, updates, and related notes accurately.

Assist program staff with onsite events, workshops, orientations, recruitments, and other AJC activities.

Organize and update training provider information, program flyers, and resource materials.

Create, revise, and update flyers, outreach documents, and promotional materials.

Support general front-office and back-office administrative needs.

Use Microsoft Office tools and other software platforms to support document creation, workflow tracking, data organization, and communication.

Work confidently with technology, including approved AI tools and software solutions for document drafting, editing, organization, and workflow improvement.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Experience answering and making phone calls in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.

Basic computer literacy required.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Ability to enter data accurately and maintain confidentiality.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to follow instructions, ask questions when needed, and complete assigned tasks on time.

Ability to work professionally with staff, customers, employers, and community partners.

Typing skills preferred.
Preferred Skills

Customer service experience.

Experience with filing, spreadsheets, data tracking, or office support.

Interest in workforce development, human services, business services, or public service.

Ability to stay organized while working on multiple tasks.

Work Environment
This position is based onsite at the Wayne American Job Center. The intern will work in a professional office environment and may assist with customer-facing services, internal administrative tasks, meetings, workshops, and community or employer-related activities.
