CONSUMER LOAN OFFICER I
Non-Exempt
Reports to: Branch Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. Essential Duties
- Loan Authority Limits Secured 50k and Unsecured 10k
- Answer questions effectively and provide information as requested
- Review loan applications from members to determine feasibility of approving loan requests
- Calculate debt ratios on applicants
- Create opportunities for expanded member relationships by determining member needs for additional products and services
- Approve loan requests for members who meet loan qualifications, or refer applications to the appropriate level as per the loan policy
- Deny the loan application and prepare an adverse action letter as required by law for loan requests that do not fall within current lending guidelines
- Prepare all documents pertaining to the loan
- Secure all documents and signatures to perfect any liens, notes, and security agreements
- Obtain proof of income from the member(s) when there is no current substantiation of income in file
- Obtain proof of insurance on collateral, when applicable
- Ensure that payment options have been discussed and documented
- The ability to attain the Financial Counselor Certification (CCUFC) through CUNA within the first 6 months
- The ability to attain State of Michigan Credit Producers License within 6 months
- This position is an in branch/office role, must be available to work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F, Saturday coverage as needed, and some outside of normal working hours for meetings and/or education/trainings
Duties and Responsibilities

- Quote total payment; including Protection Solutions package
- Educate members on Protection Solutions package options
- Participate and engage in monthly developmental coaching
- General Sales Expectation
- Successfully use effective Sales Champion skills and behaviors
- Actively participate in Credit Union initiatives, promotions, and achieve assigned financial service goals
- Build relationships with current and new members. Offer products and services that will help to fulfill their financial needs
- Oversee the onboarding process that continues to build relationship with new members
- Ensure members are being fully served
Other
- Attend educational functions as required
- Must have a good knowledge of all State and Federal laws governing the loan process
- Must have a good working knowledge of all credit union services
- Maintain certification of FICEP
- Other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Work Environment
- Must maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect work areas (i.e. teller stations, desk surfaces, phones, electronic equipment).
- Protect the confidentiality of credit union staff and members by locking door or removing items from desk/workstation when away.
Education and Experience
- Minimum high school graduate or equivalent
- One to three years similar or related experience
- A working knowledge of loan processing and credit analysis
- Experience operating a personal computer
- The ability to attain the Financial Counselor Certification (CCUFC) through CUNA within the first 6 months
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
