Position: Mortgage Loan Officer I
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Real Estate Lending Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. Essential Duties
- Maintain an active NMLS Number.
- Educate members about different mortgage loan options at Members First Credit Union.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and complete industry-required continuing education.
- Assist other MLOs in preparing borrower interviews and ensuring loan applications are fully complete.
- Interview members, receive, and submit loan applications to the processing team while ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Credit Union Lending Policies, Regulations, and Guidelines.
- Deliver or assist with Initial Disclosure Packages and Closing Disclosures to member borrowers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
- Submit loan requests for approval or denial based on lending guidelines and prepare necessary documentation.
- Travel to MFCU branch locations to conduct loan interviews as needed.
- Meet and maintain all necessary loan origination production standards as established by management.
- Participate in external events such as realtor and builder associations to develop business and foster relationships.

- Provide professional and courteous member service while fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Report any violations or errors to Credit Union Leadership.
- Increase loan volume by cross-selling additional loan products based on member credit reports.
- Be visible in the local community to promote the Credit Union through participation in business, community, and charitable activities.
- Access credit reporting systems, review reports, and compare data against loan applications.
- Prepare and review all loan documents for errors or omissions.
- Secure necessary documents such as proof of income and insurance on collateral.
Sales
- Demonstrate effective selling skills and behaviors.
- Meet or exceed sales referral and annual production goals.
- Participate in sales and loan origination development coaching sessions.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move or transport items up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods.
Work Environment
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect work areas, including teller stations, desk surfaces, and phones.
- Protect confidentiality by securing sensitive materials when away from the workstation.
Education and Experience
- Active/Valid NMLS ID or ability to obtain one upon hire or job transfer into this role.
- One to three years of related experience.
- A two-year college degree or completion of specialized certification or training.
- Working knowledge of loan processing and credit analysis.
- Knowledge of the secondary market and experience with first and second mortgage and other residential real estate lending.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with experience using mortgage software such as Desktop Underwriter/FNMA, Loan Product Advisor/FHLMC, and Rural Development - USDA-GUS.
