Position: Member Relationship Representative I
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Branch Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. You will do this by living out our core values in every service contact with both internal and external members.
Essential Duties
- Deliver on the Credit Union’s promises in every service situation.
- Develop and maintain an effective level of product knowledge.
- Identify members’ financial needs and recommend appropriate Credit Union solutions.
- Inform members of available loans within the Credit Union’s Lending Policies.
- Increase loan volume by cross-selling additional loan products based on member needs and credit reports.
- Open new accounts, IRAs, certificates of deposit, and other share and sub-accounts.
- Educate new and potential members about Credit Union products and services.
- Be a visible presence in the local community, promoting the Credit Union and gaining leads through business, community, chamber, and charitable activities.
- Travel to various branch locations to cover staffing shortages.
- Work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Saturday coverage as needed and occasional meetings/trainings outside of normal hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed in this position. Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Create opportunities for expanded member relationships by recommending additional products and services.
- Process cash and check transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
- Operate and balance a cash drawer as needed.
- Handle inquiries on member accounts, statements, and transaction histories.
- Process check orders.
- Sell Visa Gift and Travel Cards, and cashier’s checks/money orders.
- Collect fees as required for services.
- Remind delinquent members of due payments.
New Accounts
- Explain products and services to members.
- Prepare and process documentation for new accounts and share deposits.
- Assist with the new accounts auditing process.
- Prepare adverse action letters for denied products.
- Maintain knowledge of IRA laws and paperwork.
General Sales Expectations
- Successfully use Sales Champion skills and behaviors.
- Actively participate in Credit Union initiatives and promotions, achieving financial service goals.
- Build relationships with current and new members by offering products and services that fulfill their financial needs.
- Assist with onboarding new members to build long-term relationships.
Other Responsibilities
- Answer phones and handle member inquiries.
- Process mail as required.
- Attend educational functions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.

- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect workspaces (e.g., teller stations, desks, phones, and electronic equipment).
- Protect confidentiality by securing sensitive materials when away from the workstation.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-2 years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to attain the Financial Counselor Certification (CCUFC) through CUNA within the first 6 months.
