Position Summary
The Group Home Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an Adult Foster Care home. This position supports residents, supervises staff, ensures the home operates according to agency expectations, and helps maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive living environment.
The Group Home Manager works under the direction of the Program Coordinator and is responsible for carrying out the program as developed by the contract agency and Kennedy’s Care Enterprise, Inc.
This position requires strong leadership, communication, organization, and crisis-response skills. The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, compassionate, and able to work well under pressure.
Essential Responsibilities

Manage daily operations of the assigned Adult Foster Care home.

Supervise direct care staff within the home under the direction of the Program Coordinator.

Assist residents with daily care, living activities, and personal support needs.

Help ensure residents receive respectful, safe, and person-centered care.

Oversee staff performance, schedules, attendance, and assigned duties.

Ensure staff complete responsibilities efficiently and thoroughly.

Support residents with daily routines, hygiene, meals, medication-related procedures if trained, household tasks, and community living skills.

Communicate professionally with residents, families, visitors, staff, and agency representatives.

Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies, conflicts, or crisis situations.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment.

Ensure staff follow Kennedy’s Care Enterprise, Inc. policies and procedures.

Support compliance with Adult Foster Care requirements, resident care plans, and contract agency expectations.

Maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality at all times.

Report concerns, incidents, staffing issues, resident needs, or home-related problems to leadership.

Assist with documentation, communication logs, resident updates, and other required records.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum of two years of management experience required.

Direct care work certificate or training required, such as CLS, MORC, Wayne Center, CMH, or other approved direct care training.

Valid driver’s license required.

Must have good communication skills.

Must be able to work well under pressure.

Must be able to respond positively and professionally during crisis situations.

Must be dependable, organized, and able to lead staff effectively.

Must maintain a high standard of neatness, personal cleanliness, and professionalism.

Must be able to follow all company policies and procedures.

Must be able to pass required background checks, screenings, and onboarding requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working in an Adult Foster Care home, group home, residential care setting, or human services environment.

Experience supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Experience supervising direct care workers or residential care staff.

Knowledge of resident rights, person-centered planning, safety procedures, and documentation standards.

Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Ability to train, coach, and support staff members.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with an expected schedule of approximately 40 hours per week.
