Position Summary
Crystal Clean is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Over-the-Road CDL Class A Tanker Driver to transport materials between branch locations, designated receiving facilities, customer locations, and approved third-party vendors.
The driver will operate tractor-trailers, tankers, and other assigned commercial vehicles while maintaining full compliance with DOT requirements, environmental regulations, company policies, and safe material-handling procedures.
This position requires a valid CDL Class A license, tanker experience, dependable attendance, accurate recordkeeping, and the ability to travel over the road as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, tanker vehicles, box trailers, and other assigned commercial equipment.
- Transport materials to and from branch locations, receiving facilities, customer sites, and third-party vendors.
- Inspect the vehicle, trailer, tanker, load, and equipment before and after each trip.
- Verify that transported materials are properly loaded, secured, blocked, and braced before movement.
- Review manifests, bills of lading, shipping documents, and related paperwork for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain accurate driving logs, inspection reports, fuel records, delivery records, and required electronic documentation.
- Comply with all federal, state, local, DOT, environmental, hazardous-material, and company safety requirements.
- Follow assigned routes and communicate delays, safety concerns, mechanical issues, or delivery problems promptly.
- Assist with loading, unloading, job-site setup, cleanup, and material handling when required.
- Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the assigned truck, trailer, tanker, and equipment.
- Participate in emergency-response or after-hours assignments when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid CDL Class A license.
- Previous tanker-driving experience.
- Tanker endorsement.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to pass a federal background check.
- No traffic tickets or moving violations within the past five years, subject to employer review.
- Clean or acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to meet all DOT medical, licensing, driving-hour, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to safely load, unload, and handle materials and equipment.
- Ability to move or handle heavy materials, including oil-filter totes that may weigh up to approximately 300 pounds, using proper equipment, procedures, and assistance.
- Ability and willingness to travel overnight and operate over the road.
- Strong safety awareness, reliability, communication, and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Hazardous-material endorsement may be required based on the assigned routes and transported materials.
- Experience transporting environmental, industrial, waste, oil, or regulated materials.
- Ability to operate a manual-transmission commercial vehicle may be required.
- Experience completing manifests, bills of lading, electronic logs, and DOT inspection reports.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment or vehicle concerns.
- Experience with emergency-response or environmental-service operations.
