Partners Empowering All Kids (PEAK) Program Coordinator - The City of Mt. The PEAK program is comprised of after-school and summer programming managed by the City of Mt. Pleasant and held at Mt. Pleasant Public School facilities. Are you detail oriented? Major responsibilities comprise working with Mt. Pleasant Public Schools developing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of PEAK programs. Duties include educational, cultural, athletic, adaptive, and special events with focus on fun and learning for elementary students while maintaining a cohesive relationship with program partners to enhance civic, cultural, and leisure activities for youth and families. Plan, develop, and submit annual budget requests and oversee expenditures in accordance with approved fiscal guidelines; assist in the preparation, investigation, and application for public and private grants, donations, and sponsorship opportunities; assure the appropriate distribution and tracking of related funds and assure compliance with grant funding standards.

The successful candidate must mentor and develop staff; accept changes in priorities with ease; work in a fast-paced team environment, be self-directed, flexible, analytical, organized, and capable of working with a diverse population at several locations. The ideal candidate must have an understanding and appreciation for children, individuals with special needs, and be able to collaborate with staff and school personnel to develop programs to support all PEAK students. The PEAK Program Coordinator must have the ability to professionally engage in conflict resolution with successful outcomes, appropriately deal with staffing situations, and handle confidential information. Providing strong customer service is key.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the school year and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the summer. Schedule flexibility is required.

Hiring annual salary is the mid $50,000’s, depending on qualifications. This is a salaried exempt position. The PEAK Program Coordinator’s home base is City Hall with a strong presence at PEAK sites across Mt. Pleasant Public Schools facilities.

Mt. Pleasant is a growing and financially stable community located in the geographic center of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The Mt. Pleasant community provides an abundance of recreational and cultural opportunities ranging from hockey to chamber music concerts. Golfers are especially pleased with the 13 courses available within a 30-minute drive. The City Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide range of recreational programs for all ages, including youth soccer, softball, golf, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. The City operates and maintains 11 parks comprising 300 acres, offering venues for picnicking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, and hiking. The Isabella County park system adds another 900 acres with similar opportunities as well as camping and cross-country skiing.
