SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER – PARKS DEPARTMENT
Pay Scale: $14.34 - $16.84 per hour
General Summary: This position works under the direction of an employee of a higher
classification to perform a wide variety of entry-level and semi-skilled labor tasks requiring
considerable physical effort. Experience in gardening or horticulture, athletic field
maintenance, painting, and grounds-keeping preferred. Tasks include maintenance of public
parks, public spaces, properties and buildings, construction activities, cemetery maintenance,
and athletic field maintenance. Operation of light duty trucks, power-driven equipment, and a
variety of handheld and small power tools may be required. Performs a variety of cleaning
and routine maintenance tasks and other related work.
Minimum Requirements: Education equivalent to completion of eleventh (11th) grade and at
least six (6) months general laborer experience, or equivalent combination of education and
experience; possession of valid Michigan driver’s license and safe driving record.
Hours per Week: Varies based on position.
Employment Duration: Not to exceed nine (9) months, depending on hours worked
