Location: Detroit, MI
Pay: $35.87/hour
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Area Supervisor to lead and support our skilled trades personnel in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. This role is critical in driving equipment reliability, maintenance excellence, and continuous improvement, ensuring the maintenance department meets its goals in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate professional and breakdown maintenance activities to support production goals.
Drive improvements in equipment throughput, reliability, and uptime.
Coach and mentor hourly and supervisory team members using Stellantis Production Way (SPW) methodologies, including problem-solving and corrective action implementation.
Supervise and support skilled trades employees in daily operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with Professional Maintenance Specialists (PMS) to resolve equipment-related issues, including downtime, variability, and throughput challenges.
Champion waste reduction through SPW pillars: Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Professional Maintenance (PM), Quality Maintenance (QM), Focused Improvement (FI), and People Development (PD).
Lead and participate in Kaizen events to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and high morale.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years of industrial automation experience with project management exposure.
Solid understanding of maintenance strategies: Time-Based Maintenance (TBM), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), Dynamic Maintenance (DM).
Ability to influence key performance metrics: MTBF, MTTR, and equipment condition standards.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop skilled trade employees.
Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
Goal-oriented, self-starter capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field.
Experience leading maintenance teams in a union environment.
Knowledge of continuous improvement systems, lean manufacturing, and World Class Manufacturing pillar methodology.
Green Belt, Red X, or Six Sigma training.
Experience with controls, robotics, drives, system communication, sealing systems, glass cell systems, conveyor systems, welding, paint processes, vision systems, and sensors.
Familiarity with Google Suite software programs.
