Position Summary:
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion in students, faculty, and staff.
The Structured Learning Assistant (SLA) Facilitator provides academic assistance to developmental students in either math or English by attending class meetings of the selected course and facilitating weekly workshops. The SLA models successful student behaviors and provides experiences to assist learning, including study skills, test preparation, time management, inquiry methods, and strategies for learning course content and vocabulary. The SLA Facilitator is also responsible for maintaining accurate attendance, collecting and delivering required data, and meeting regularly with instructors and the Teaching/Learning Center Manager for planning and feedback.
Fall, Winter, and Spring semester hours vary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide academic support to students by attending class sessions and leading weekly workshops.

Model effective student behaviors and promote skills such as time management, study strategies, and preparation for assessments.

Assist with learning content and vocabulary relevant to the course.

Take and maintain accurate attendance records.

Collect and deliver required surveys and data on time.

Meet regularly with instructors and TLC management to discuss student progress and workshop effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:

Minimum technology skills.

Associate degree in a related field with at least one year of tutoring or teaching experience.

Proficiency in course content area (math or writing).

Working knowledge of the skills being taught in the class.

Strong communication and organizational skills.
