Job Title: Detention Youth Care Specialist – Male Designated

Job Summary
The Detention Youth Care Specialist (DYCS) performs human support work by providing basic needs and ensuring the safety and security of delinquent youth housed in county detention facilities. Responsibilities include supervising residents, facilitating activities, and maintaining a secure environment.
Essential Functions

Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of residents during shifts.

Supervise residents in all activities, including hygiene and self-care education.

Provide general counseling and assist residents in resolving personal issues.

Perform security checks and monitor adherence to facility rules.

Escort residents to various appointments and activities within the facility.

Plan and supervise recreational and social activities.

Document behavior logs, incident reports, and other necessary records.

Maintain cleanliness of work areas and resident living spaces.

Facilitate religious services and visitation sessions.

Sanitize and clean bedding and clothing; address health concerns such as lice or scabies.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: One to three years of experience in juvenile court or a childcare facility. Alternatively, completion of 30 semester hours of college or equivalent quarter hours as per state requirements.

Special Requirements:

Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.

Obtain CPR & First Aid Certification within six (6) months of hire.

Complete Crisis Prevention Intervention Training upon hire.
