Job Summary
The Nursing Program Supervisor assists the Nursing Director in managing, evaluating, and supervising personnel within programmatic areas to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care services for Saginaw County residents. This role involves limited supervision over assigned personnel and operates under the limited direction of the assigned supervisor.
Essential Functions

Manage daily operations of assigned Nursing Division programs, including scheduling, planning, and conducting staff meetings.

Develop, implement, and evaluate program policies and procedures.

Monitor and evaluate staff performance, utilizing critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.

Ensure quality assurance of care and address issues and concerns, maintaining accountability for services provided to clients.

Assign staff based on program needs and provide coverage as necessary.

Analyze programmatic data and prepare various reports; contribute to annual budget preparation and divisional goals.

Participate in divisional leadership to ensure compliance with state and federal accreditation requirements and program mandates.

Stay current on nursing best practices, public health matters, and quality care by reviewing relevant publications and legislation.

Communicate program updates to divisional leadership.

Participate in the selection and orientation of new employees; provide divisional coverage in the absence of other management and facilitate additional training as needed.

Promote collaborative partnerships with other health and human service agencies to enhance service coordination and expansion.

Represent the Health Department at various meetings and conferences, both in and out of state.

Promote Health Department programs through community education and outreach activities.

Ensure proper inventory, storage, and administration/distribution of program supplies, biologics, and pharmaceuticals.

Be available on-call for emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Experience: Considerable (3-5 years) experience in public health with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Administration
Additional Requirements:

Thorough knowledge of industry standards, organizational policies, legal guidelines, and best practices.

Ability to prepare programmatic reports, correspondence, policies, and procedures.

Proficiency in preparing staff evaluations, incident reports, and required agency documents (e.g., timecards, travel/training requests, PTO requests).

Competence in using standard office equipment, computer software, laboratory equipment (e.g., microscope, pipette), clinical equipment (e.g., scale, blood pressure cuff), and temperature monitoring equipment (e.g., data logger, docking station).

General knowledge of standard accounting software.

Ability to perform arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; and understand and apply governmental accounting practices.
