Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Kennel Manager, the Kennel Aide performs tasks related to the care and maintenance of animals housed in the shelter. Responsibilities include cleaning cages, handling and feeding animals—including those that may be aggressive—and performing custodial duties throughout the facility. The role requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Functions

• Clean animal kennels and cages daily.

• Maintain cleanliness of the entire facility, including office areas.

• Handle animals safely and humanely.

• Feed and care for animals according to established protocols.

• Interact with the public during animal reclamation, adoption processes, registration purchases, and information inquiries.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.

• Experience: Physical ability to lift heavy animals (approximately 50 pounds).

• Special Requirements:

  • Previous experience handling animals is desired.

  • Knowledge of animal control laws and animal handling skills.

  • Basic data entry skills.

  • Ability to interact with the public sensitively and effectively under stressful situations.
