A Maintenance Specialist will complete repairs and installations of equipment and facilities to maintain a safe and functional living environment. This will include patching drywall, painting, repairing doors/windows, moving furniture, picking up litter, snow removal, and other tasks to keep the facilities functioning. The specialist will also be responsible for completing plumbing or electrical tasks depending on their skills and training.
Maintenance Specialist Role and Responsibilities:
- Complete monthly safety inspections on facilities
- Clear the sidewalks and parking lot of ice and snow
- Participate in an emergency on-call rotation
- Repair and paint walls/ceilings as needed
- Repair doors and windows as needed
- Assist in moving furniture and other items as needed
- Assisting with vehicle maintenance
- Complete electrical and/or plumbing tasks as needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- HS Diploma / GED
- Certification in Electrical work or Plumbing work
- Experience with light repairs and drywall/painting
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and movement throughout company facilities, residential homes, and campus locations while performing maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance activities.
- The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, maintenance supplies, furniture, appliances, and other materials weighing up to 75 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance, mechanical equipment, or team lifting techniques when appropriate.
- Work is performed in residential, clinical, administrative, indoor, and outdoor environments. The employee may be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, chemicals, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, confined spaces, heights, and other hazards commonly associated with maintenance and facilities operations.
- The employee will have regular exposure to residents receiving services in adult foster care and behavioral health treatment settings and must be able to interact professionally and effectively in those environments.
- The position requires the ability to safely operate tools, equipment, company vehicles, and maintenance machinery. The employee must be able to navigate stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rooftops, and other areas requiring physical agility and coordination.
- Travel between company locations is required. The employee may be required to respond to facility emergencies outside normal business hours and may be scheduled for evening, weekend, holiday, overtime, or on-call coverage based on operational needs.
