Position Summary
Fifth Third Bank is seeking a Personal Banker Associate I for its 7 Mile and Telegraph Financial Center in Detroit.
This is a developmental banking position designed to prepare the selected candidate to become a Retail Personal Banker I. The employee will complete a structured 4–8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in Operations and Sales & Service, followed by a certification process. (MiTalent)
The Personal Banker Associate will learn to identify customers' financial needs, recommend appropriate banking products and services, process teller transactions, develop customer relationships, support sales activities, and provide a high level of customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Use a consultative sales approach and Financial Needs Assessment to understand customers' current and future financial needs.

Develop knowledge of consumer and small-business banking products and services.

Recommend appropriate financial products and solutions based on customer needs.

Build and deepen relationships with existing customers while helping attract new consumer and small-business customers.

Process teller and other routine banking transactions.

Proactively contact customers and schedule financial reviews and appointments.

Participate in sales and community outreach activities, including business calls and financial-literacy events.

Work closely with Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment, and other internal business partners.

Refer customers to appropriate banking specialists when additional services are needed.

Work toward individual and team customer-service, production, and revenue goals.

Answer customer questions and take ownership of resolving customer concerns.

Assist with opening and servicing retail banking products.

Participate in consumer loan and bankcard processes, including supporting applications through closing.

Maintain confidentiality of customer and business information.

Follow Fifth Third Bank policies, procedures, ethics standards, and risk-management requirements.

Remain alert to potential fraudulent activity and follow established procedures to reduce risk.

Assist with opening and closing Financial Center procedures as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should possess a college degree, relevant work experience that provides transferable skills, or a combination of education and experience.
Financial-industry experience is preferred but is not listed as an absolute requirement. Candidates should be comfortable developing sales skills, working with customers, building relationships, and recommending products and services.
Candidates must also be able to perform advanced mathematical functions necessary to analyze financial and credit information, communicate professionally in writing and verbally, exercise sound judgment, learn banking policies and procedures, and professionally represent Fifth Third Bank.
S.A.F.E. Act / NMLS Requirement
