Position Summary
The Activity Associate supports the Activity Director and nursing staff by helping maintain a meaningful and engaging activity program for residents. This includes creative arts, crafts, recreational exercise, social activities and educational opportunities. The role also provides assistance with activities of daily living, basic customer service and resident transport as needed. Volunteers often support the program, and the Activity Associate helps guide and assist them.
Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Responsibilities

Provide information, direction and assistance to individuals entering the building

Answer call lights and respond to resident needs

Enter patient activity data into documentation systems

Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment

Accurately document resident participation in activities

Assist with or lead daily group activities and projects

Train, direct and support volunteers
-
Provide one-to-one programming and social visits for cognitively impaired residents

Initiate and organize new activity programming

Assist with ADLs including feeding, toileting, grooming, transferring and transporting

Participate in personal growth and development
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Completion of an accredited Nurse Aide Training program

Current CNA license in good standing in the state of Michigan
Preferred Experience and Skills

Experience in long-term care, rehab or geriatrics
-
Skills or experience in creative arts, music or recreational activities

Basic medical terminology

Strong oral and written communication skills

Basic math, computer and typing skills

Ability to read and interpret data from computer systems

Ability to recognize and respond to individual resident needs

Ability to accept delegation, prioritize tasks and provide positive customer service
Physical Requirements

Frequent standing and walking

Regular lifting of up to 20 pounds
