Medical Assistant – Full Time, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bronson Family Medicine (Temporarily Mattawan), Kalamazoo**
Overview
The Medical Assistant supports providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks that help deliver high quality, patient-centered care. This role includes recording vital signs, assisting with assessments, documenting patient information, preparing patients for exams and procedures, and supporting providers with treatments and follow-up needs. Team members must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

Must meet one of the following:
-
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
-
CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification
-
Eligibility to take the CMA or RMA exam within six months of hire
-
BLS certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer
-
Strong clinical knowledge consistent with Medical Assistant certification or registration
-
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with patients, providers, and staff
-
EMR experience highly desirable
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team
Key Responsibilities
-
Record vital signs, immunizations, and patient histories
-
Assist with initial patient assessments and medication reconciliation
-
Document patient information accurately in the EMR
-
Prepare patients for exams, tests, and procedures
-
Assist providers with treatments and in-office procedures such as laceration repair and pelvic exams
-
Obtain and process specimens including urine tests and phlebotomy
-
Perform basic laboratory tests as directed
-
Schedule tests or procedures in other departments
-
Provide patient education and instructions as needed
-
Coordinate referrals, admissions, and prescription requests
-
Maintain exam room supplies and complete daily inventory
-
Screen incoming calls and determine urgency or need for appointments

Assist with completion of patient forms such as disability or worker compensation documents

Attend staff meetings and educational sessions

Perform additional duties as assigned by nurses, providers, or the practice manager
Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, and repetitive tasks

Regular lifting of items up to 20 pounds and occasional assistance with heavier tasks

Sustained computer use requiring attention to detail
