Direct Learner Support

• Provide one-on-one behavioral and skill-development services to assigned learners.

• Implement individualized treatment and behavior-support plans as directed by the clinical team.

• Teach independent daily living, communication, social, play, and self-care skills.

• Use approved prompting, reinforcement, modeling, and other ABA-based strategies.

• Support learners in a patient, respectful, and developmentally appropriate manner.

• Encourage independence while providing the level of support required by each learner.

Behavior Support and Data Collection

• Observe and document learner behaviors accurately.

• Collect data related to skill acquisition and the reduction of distressed or challenging behaviors.

• Follow written behavior protocols and individualized programming.

• Report changes, concerns, progress, incidents, or unusual behaviors to supervisors promptly.

• Assist the clinical team in evaluating learner progress through accurate and consistent data collection.

Health and Safety

• Maintain a safe, structured, clean, and supportive learning environment.

• Follow all emergency, health, safety, infection-control, and incident-reporting procedures.

• Follow dietary, supplementation, and medication-related instructions provided through prescriptions, treatment plans, or parent and guardian directions.

• Closely supervise assigned learners during treatment, play, transitions, meals, and community activities.

• Respond calmly and professionally during behavioral or safety-related situations.

Documentation and Billing

• Complete daily progress notes, service documentation, data sheets, and billing records accurately and on time.

• Protect learner privacy and maintain confidentiality.

• Follow Hope Network, insurance, clinical, and regulatory documentation requirements.

• Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and performance reviews.

Communication and Teamwork

• Communicate professionally with learners, families, clinical supervisors, coworkers, and other members of the treatment team.

• Share relevant observations and progress updates with the appropriate clinical staff.

• Collaborate with families and coworkers to support consistent treatment.

• Demonstrate flexibility, patience, dependability, and respect.

• Maintain professional boundaries and follow ethical standards.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• A high school diploma or GED

• A valid State of Michigan driver’s license

• A strong interest in working with children and young adults

• The ability to complete Hope Network’s required paid training

• Reliable attendance and punctuality

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Basic computer and documentation skills

• The ability to follow detailed clinical instructions and treatment plans

• The ability to work cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary team

• The flexibility to respond to changing learner needs and treatment priorities

Preferred Experience

Relevant experience may include work in:

• Applied behavior analysis

• Autism services

• Behavioral health

• Mental health

Previous ABA experience is helpful but is not required when the applicant can successfully complete the employer’s training program.

Registered Behavior Technician Certification

Active Registered Behavior Technician certification is preferred but is not required at the time of application.

Hope Network provides hands-on training for newly hired Behavior Technicians. Employees may also qualify for:

Training Provided

New Behavior Technicians receive an individualized, hands-on training experience led by a qualified trainer.

Training may include:

• Applied behavior analysis fundamentals

• Learner safety

• Behavior-support procedures

• Data collection

• Communication techniques

• Ethical responsibilities

• Crisis-prevention procedures

• Individualized treatment-plan implementation

• RBT preparation, where applicable

Physical and Work Requirements

The position may require:

• Sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout the workday

• Participating in floor play and recreational activities

• Assisting learners with daily activities and transitions

• Responding quickly during behavioral or safety situations

• Maintaining close visual supervision

• Working in an active environment with children and young adults

• Traveling to home or community-based sessions when required by a treatment plan

Compensation

• Starting wage of $17.00 per hour

• Higher starting pay may be available based on relevant ABA experience

• Additional wage increase for active RBT certification

Final compensation is determined by Hope Network based on experience, qualifications, certifications, language skills, and organizational pay practices.
