JOB PURPOSE: To offer a level of safety and service that exceeds guest expectations and establishes or maintains a positive and productive relationship both within the organization and with guests.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of Aquatics Management/ Waterpark MOD, ensures the safety of all patrons of the Bavarian Inn Lodge Aquatics areas in, on, or around the properties’ bodies of water. Lifeguard to the American Red Cross Standards, while practicing preventative lifeguarding. Provide care at the level of training certification by preventing and responding to any and all emergencies. Enforce and maintain safe operational guidelines set forth by attractions operator’s manuals. Provide exceptional customer service in all assigned roles
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Safety & Emergency Response
- To prevent accidents and eliminate or minimize hazardous situations
- Maintain constant surveillance of assigned zones, acting immediately to prevent incidents and respond to emergencies.
- Perform water rescues and provide medical care, including CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen, until emergency medical services arrive and have taken over.
- Follow and enforce all facility rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Execute emergency action plans as trained and instructed.
- Maintain readiness by participating in required monthly in-service training (up to 4 hours).
Guest Service
- Greet and assist guests in a professional, courteous manner.
- Educate guests on safe water practices and slide operation.
- Address unsafe behavior promptly and respectfully.
Operations & Cleanliness
- Complete opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Monitor pools, slide dispatch areas, run-outs, and stair towers for safety and efficiency.
- Support overall facility cleanliness, including Lodge aquatics areas, Bavarian Blast, and Family Fun Center.
- Assist with towel distribution, trash removal, table clearing, arcade game cleaning, and other rotational duties.
- Ensure emergency equipment is available, functional, and secure.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
- Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Accept and perform other roles or duties as assigned by the Aquatics Management Team.
Specialty Programming
- Participate in Lodge special events and Bavarian Inn Lodge–sponsored festivals when assigned.
- Perform as a mascot for special programming and events
- Participate in Aquatics specific programming such as swim lessons, aqua aerobics, and special holiday events
- Lifeguard during after-hours functions on a sign up basis.
- Accept the most effective role as assigned by the Aquatics Management Team.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
- Must be able to pass a 100 yard swimming test, timed brick test, and treading test in accordance with American Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding program
- Knowledge of Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED, and Emergency Oxygen Administration or will be trained/certified on-site.
- Ability to be in and out of pool water regularly throughout shift.
- Ability to react quickly, effectively and calmly in emergencies.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work long hours on your feet.
- Ability to lift moderate weights.
- Ability to work fluctuating shifts.
- Ability to stand high heat and humidity.
- Ability to frequently get in and out of the water during each shift.
- Ability to work in high noise level areas.

Female: BIL Red Lifeguard issued shirt, black shorts, One Piece Swim Suit, whistle/ Lanyard w/ Name Tag, Guard Pack, CPR Mask, and water shoes
Male: BIL Red Lifeguard issued shirt, black swim shorts, whistle/ Lanyard w/ Name Tag, Guard Pack, CPR Mask, and water shoes
Both: If hair length is below chin, then it must be pulled back and secured
