Job Summary
Schoolcraft College is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Head Women’s Softball Coach. Schoolcraft College is an NJCAA Division II program and member of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Women’s Softball program, including its leadership, management, organization, and evaluation. The Head Women’s Softball Coach will also be expected to teach and demonstrate the ability to promote the physical, intellectual, and social growth of student-athletes.
Supervision Received and Given
The Head Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and provides supervision to Assistant Coaches.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Completing duties and responsibilities related to the overall operations and well-being of the Women’s Softball Program, including but not limited to:
- Leadership
- Recruitment of student-athletes
- Player management
- Compliance of school and governing body policies and procedures
- Budget management
- Academic progress monitoring
- Game and practice scheduling
- Game and event management
- Travel coordination
- Coaching staff management
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in closely aligned field of study.
- Minimum of three years coaching experience at the interscholastic or intercollegiate level.
- Interscholastic or intercollegiate experience as a high school or college student-athlete, and/or as a sports official.
- Understanding of sport specific rules and regulations, game procedures and eligibility compliance issues.
- Experience at organizing and managing a sports specific program at an educational institution.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse staff and external constituents.
- Experienced literacy in using computers and Microsoft Office software programs and other department equipment relevant to conducting a sports specific program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- College-acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in closely aligned field of study.
- Minimum of five years coaching experience at the interscholastic or intercollegiate level.
- Familiarity with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) programs.
- Understanding of metropolitan Detroit area high schools that serve as ongoing recruiting sources for the college.
Pay: $15,000/year
