GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The SCRC Shift Leader acts as quality control and is responsible for on-site supervision of the fitness facilities, its patrons, and SCRC Student workers. They are also responsible for overseeing the appropriate use and cleanliness of all equipment. They will maintain a welcoming, inclusive, safe and enjoyable service-oriented environment for Student Community Resource Center participants at all times. This position must include the ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
DUTIES:
Manage, oversee, and monitor all areas of the facility while providing guidance, leadership and feedback for student staff:
- Responsible for opening, closing, and maintaining a secure facility.
- Maintains appropriate cash balances. Monitoring/verify transactions and reports of all financial transactions when a direct supervisor is not available.
- Implement organize and oversee the set-up/tear-down of planned programs scheduled on the courts.
- Be able to respond to specific exercise and fitness related questions, or refer to Fitness Specialist and/or Supervisor.
- Explain and demonstrate proper use of equipment.
- Use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.
- Attend staff meetings to discuss special problems, training, procedure reviews, and student monitor performance feedback.
- Demonstrate, teach, and require excellence in customer service.
- Supervise record keeping of participant usage including ID card access and usage.
- Development, training, and follow up of new employees on shift.
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Maintain professionalism and a positive, helpful approach in all interactions, duties and management of others:

Responsible for the maintenance and custodial oversight of all equipment and facilities:
- Keep service records of all equipment.
- Plan/supervise/complete safety checks as well as routine cleaning and maintenance schedules on equipment as assigned.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and parts for repair and custodial purposes.
Provide flexible availability to work and fill in when shifts need coverage. Expect to work a minimum of 3 hours per semester at special activities. (i.e. Commencement, intramural/extramural, lecture series, NCMC foundation events, after-hour scheduled groups, etc.):
- Conduct/supervise equipment orientations and fitness tests/exams as may be assigned.
- Assisting with Physical Education programs and/or Fitness Specialist as assigned.
- Assisting with intramural/extramural and/or Coordinator as assigned.
- Attend organizational meetings to discuss special college hosted activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Implement adequate emergency response:
- Be a responder in the event of an emergency.
- Enforce and explain all NCMC emergency procedures.
- Give first aid when necessary.
- Attend staff training classes.
- Supervise safe and appropriate equipment set ups.
- Complete incident, accident, and theft forms.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Trained in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens. (training may be provided upon hire)
- Basic computer skills and telephone etiquette.
- Self-starter, self-motivated and proactive.
- Ability to manage and lead.
- Ability to lift 10 lbs. or more regularly and up to 50 lbs. or more on occasion.

- Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
PAY RATE: $17.10/hr. plus a $0.50/hour shift premium for weekend work.
HOURS:
- Primarily Weekends (Sat and Sun) around 8am to 5pm = about 18 hours,
- Potential for additional hours (up to 28 per week) if desired and available.
