Recreational Therapist
Location: Handlon Correctional Facility – Ionia, MI
Pay: $32.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift | 40 hours/week

Overview:
Care One Inc., a trusted Michigan-based staffing agency for over 30 years, is seeking a Certified Recreational Therapist to provide structured therapeutic recreation programming for incarcerated individuals at Handlon Correctional Facility. This is a meaningful opportunity to support rehabilitation, physical and emotional well-being, and social development through creative and physical activities.
Responsibilities:

Plan, lead, and supervise individual and group recreational therapy activities such as yoga, calisthenics, board games, crafts, sewing, sports, cooking, and more

Assess individual needs through observation, functional evaluations, and medical record review

Maintain therapeutic materials, equipment, and supplies

Document therapy sessions and participant engagement in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Recreational Therapy program

Valid Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification in Michigan

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required

Strong patient assessment, documentation, and engagement skills

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and within a correctional setting
