POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing customer service in the bookstore. This includes answering phone and providing information to customers, operating cash registers and credit card machines and processing financial aid charges within guidelines and assisting customers in finding books and supplies. This position is also involved in receiving books and merchandise, including checking in, pricing and shelving all merchandise and packing and shipping returns to vendors. The position also checks online book orders; and then pulls and packs the orders for shipment. This position also provides support to other positions as needed and assigned in bookstore.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
- Process customer sales transactions
- Operate cash registers, credit/debit card machines, refund registers
- Buyback transactions and data entry for financial aid charges
- Provide customer service to students, faculty and staff; answering phones, processing internal charges, desk copy requests, special orders, web orders and assistance in finding books, supplies and other merchandise
- Receives incoming delivery of books, supplies and clothing
- Unpacks cartons, inventories items, price items and stocks books and supplies and other merchandise
- Provides clerical support as assigned
- Works as assigned to provide coverage for staff vacancies and/or special events.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Technology Skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Less than 1 year of customer service experience
Additional Experiences Considered
- One or more years of customer service experience preferred
