Position Summary
Delta College is seeking a News Reporter and Content Producer to serve as an on-air personality, news anchor, and content creator for WUCX-FM Public Radio. This position is responsible for producing daily broadcast content, writing news stories, conducting interviews, creating promotional and underwriting announcements, maintaining digital content, and supporting community programming.
The successful candidate will also assist with fundraising campaigns, public appearances, web content, newsletters, and local public media productions while helping deliver engaging programming that serves the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
FM Broadcast Operations
- Oversee day-to-day broadcast operations for Delta College Public Radio.
- Monitor quality of locally produced programming.
- Acquire and record national and regional programming assets.
- Coordinate automated broadcast schedules seven days per week.
On-Air Talent & Production
- Serve as on-air host for Morning Edition and Here and Now.
- Serve as secondary on-air talent during fundraising campaigns.
- Write and record promotional announcements for upcoming programming.
- Produce promotional content supporting Delta College and Public Media programming.
Off-Air Responsibilities
- Produce daily audio content including:
- News reports
- Interviews
- Weather updates
- Stock reports
- Public Service Announcements
- Promotional announcements
- Underwriter announcements
- Day sponsor announcements
- Long-form programming
- Assist with production of the monthly Delta College Public Media newsletter.
- Support community producers and student productions.
- Represent WUCX-FM during community appearances, including evening and weekend events.
- Create and update website content and digital platforms.
- Assist with television and radio social media content.
- Participate in additional Delta College Public Media productions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree (or equivalent knowledge and skills) in:
- Broadcasting
- Journalism
- Communications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of automated digital broadcast systems.
- Experience with:
- Digital audio production
- Traffic and continuity systems
- Audio editing software
- Knowledge and use of AI content generation software.
Preferred Qualifications
- One to three years of related experience.
- Copywriting, news writing, and reporting experience.
- Previous on-air broadcasting experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with digital production and traffic systems.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud including:
- Photoshop
- InDesign
- After Effects
- Audition
- Illustrator
- Premiere Pro
- Experience using AI tools such as:
- Adobe Firefly
- ChatGPT
- Claude
- Gemini
- Other AI applications for audio, video, and photo production.
