Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history reviews, and documenting findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems)
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to promote long-term oral health
- Review and update medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality at all times
- Monitor patient vital signs before, during, and after treatments to ensure safety and well-being
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting
- Proven experience in dental office environments, preferably within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups, especially pediatrics
- Familiarity with medical coding, documentation review, and medical terminology is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of hygiene
