This position is paid for and employed through Edustaff, a staffing agency, but your assignment will be Henry Ford College.
General Description:
Ensures digital documents (PDFs, Word, PowerPoint) comply with accessibility standards like WCAG 2.1 AA, PDF/UA, and Section 508. Key responsibilities include tagging, structuring, and remediating files for accessibility to ensure compliance with legal standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Document Accessibility: Convert non-compliant documents into accessible formats, including adding alt text to images, defining reading orders, and tagging forms.
- Remediation & Formatting: Fix PDF, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint files to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
- Project Tracking: Manage large volumes of documents and track the status of remediated files.
Qualifications:
- An associate degree or certification in a related discipline
- A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro (tagging, structural changes), Office, including Outlook and SharePoint/Teams for communication and file tracking.
Preferred Experiences:
- Validating documents with: Screen readers and Accessibility checkers with an understanding of reading order, heading structure and alt text quality.
- Demonstrated understanding of PDF/UA structure and tagging hierarchy.
- Experience managing high document volume.

Hours: Mon.-Fri. 8am-4:30pm or 9am-5pm
Pay Rate: $25/hour (Higher with preferred experience)
