We have an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal in our Intellectual Property Department to assist our attorneys in acquiring, protecting, and maintaining trademark rights in U.S. and foreign jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service orientation, possess exceptional attention to detail, superior problem-solving skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, clients, and foreign associates.
Responsibilities
Conduct independent research related to U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution and procedures
Conduct screening, design and ownership searches, including analyzing results
Prepare and file routine and non-standard/complex U.S. and international trademark applications, including mid-prosecution, TTAB and maintenance filings
Provide database management support including work related to trademark portfolio management
Regular communication with domestic and international clients and attorneys as well as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign counterparts
Prepare and file copyright applications
Assist with maintenance of domain names and enforcement matters
Assist with assignments and other chain of title work, both domestic and foreign
Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, college degree and/or a paralegal certificate from a school approved by the ABA is preferred
Minimum of two (2) years' experience related to trademark prosecution required
Knowledge of USPTO rules and regulations and experience with the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) is preferred
Strong working knowledge of WIPO rules and regulations and experience with filing applications for international registration under Madrid preferred #LI-Hybrid

The actual offered amount will be between the range minimum and midpoint based on the following factors: education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley. We are accepting ongoing applications.
- Milwaukee, Detroit, Madison & Salt Lake City: $62,100 - $135,800
- San Diego, Denver, Chicago, Dallas & Houston: $82,700 - $149,300
- Los Angeles: $86,300 - $155,700
- Boston, New York & Washington DC: $89,900 - $162,300
- Silicon Valley & San Francisco: $94,100 - $170,000
