Accounting Specialist
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Senior Accountant
Employment Status Classification: Full-Time, Salary Exempt
Job Description Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day accounting operations and monthly closing process.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Update workpapers on a monthly basis
- Create monthly financial report templates
- Prepare managed entity billings and miscellaneous grant billings
- Backup for accounts payable and other key accounting functions
- Support accounting for various entities
- Preparation of various journal entries
- Assist with preparation for audits
- Other accounting related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
- Not-for-profit and/or grant accounting experience preferred
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with Blackbaud/Financial Edge NXT is a plus
- A willingness to learn, grow and cross train within the accounting department
Travel:
No travel is required for this position.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position includes in-office work and remote work (from home office).
While performing the functions of this job, the position is both sedentary and at times requires the ability to be active including standing, bending, lifting and/or arranging files and office products and supplies and may require employee to periodically stand on a short step stool to access files.
