The Electronics Technician is a safety-sensitive position that will perform mechanical and electrical repairs to a variety of electrical systems, subsystems, and components. The Technician will maintain and repair two-way radios, antennas and handsets, fare handling equipment, electronic destination signs, automatic voice enunciator, video security cameras, GPS, AVL, APC, VoIP, and CAD systems.

- Competitive Pay Range: $29.40 per hour, with potential earnings up $35.56 per hour (This rate includes the $1 shift premium.)

What will you be doing in this role:
- Troubleshoot and perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment such as fare boxes, cameras, destination signs, automatic vehicle location systems (AVL), global position systems (GPS), two-way radios, voice announcement systems (Annunciators), wireless local area network (WLAN) devices, security camera devices; including cameras, wiring and digital video recorders (DVR), voice over internet protocol (VoIP), Electronic Display Signs, and more.
- Strong computer experience.
- Understanding of drawings, prints, and electrical schematics.
- Programming all electrical systems and subsystems.
- Electrical troubleshooting with 12/24 volt automotive heavy truck or bus.
- Electronic diagnosis and repair.
- Circuit board diagnosis and repair.
- Desoldering and soldering sensors, switches, photo-optical sensors, potentiometers, LED's, capacitors, and batteries.
- Preventative maintenance and rebuilding components on ticket machines "Trim units," coin validators, bill validators/transports, cash vault boxes, etc.
- Requires long periods of standing in electrical lab while performing repairs and/or sitting extended periods while performing bench work.
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as specialty type electrical tools.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Minimum of two years of vocational/technical schooling in the related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Two years of related work experience.
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new programs as required.
- A valid Michigan Driver's License and able to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and chauffeur's license. Must maintain a valid Department of Transportation medical certification.
- Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Physical Demands:
Posture: Prolonged standing, short walking, various trunk positions have to be maintained for prolonged periods when performing repairs; sitting only during bus inspections and break periods. Requires normal trunk mobility, bending of knees, normal cervical mobility, full shoulder mobility, normal elbow/wrist/hand mobility.
Force Required: Lumbar lifting, (floor to waist) up to 85 pounds; cervical lifting (waist to overhead) up to 77 pounds; pushing/pulling isometrically up to 62 pounds; dynamically 32 pounds; carrying up to 62 pounds.
Repetitions: Aforementioned tasks are occurring throughout the workday in repair of buses.
