Position Summary
Delta College is seeking a dedicated and professional Financial Aid Advisor to oversee federal, state, and local financial aid programs. This role requires expertise in eligibility reviews, data reporting, and providing equitable financial aid services. The Financial Aid Advisor will also counsel students, families, and the community while maintaining a commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Key Accountabilities:
- Stay updated on internal policies and external regulations, including federal and state financial aid laws. Attend trainings and conferences to maintain current knowledge.
- Perform technical tasks related to reporting, processing, storing, and maintaining data for financial aid programs. Assist in developing and implementing data management systems.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Manage one or more financial aid programs or services.
- Counsel students and families on financial needs, opportunities, and academic success. Verify eligibility and ensure equitable aid distribution.
- Administer and report on federal aid programs, including Pell Grants and Direct Loans. Reconcile and manage discrepancies in COD reports.
- Develop and deliver financial aid presentations and community outreach activities, including evening events.
- Collaborate with campus offices to provide comprehensive support to students.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills.
- 1 – 3 years of related experience.
- Proficient knowledge of institutional policies, federal/state/local financial aid programs, and federal tax laws.
- High level of mathematical competency and ability to interpret financial aid regulations.
- Exemplary customer service and effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Public speaking and presentation experience.
- Familiarity with student information systems or related software.
