Salary: $54,000-$74,000
Primary Responsibility
The School-Based Therapist collaborates with school personnel and community partners to address the unmet needs of children and families at the assigned school. This role supports the sustainability of the School Based Mental Health Program, focusing on establishing and maintaining a consumer caseload.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide mental health consultation to school personnel, Michigan DHHS Pathways to Potential staff, and families as needed.
- Work with school personnel and DHHS under guidance from a DHHS consultant and SOC clinical leadership to develop a Community School Model, promoting mental health awareness in youth settings.
- Conduct intakes, individual and group therapy at school during mutually agreed times to minimize disruption.
- Create individual service plans tailored to specific symptoms; complete social assessments; monitor therapy progress; conduct quarterly reviews; consider treatment options.
- Learn and implement evidence-based practices for the needs of children and families served at the school.
- Conduct interviews with recipient/family and others to gather personal, social, and emotional history during intake.
- Complete CAFAS or PECFAS assessments as part of intake and ongoing processes per policy.
- Apply family-centered planning, including pre-planning and independent facilitation, documenting the start of the Person-Centered Plan (PCP).
- Collaborate with the SCCMHA Mobile Urgent Treatment Team (MUTT) for crisis services as needed.
- Ensure long-term service sustainability at the school through the billing process over the grant period.
- Prepare intake files for chart construction.
- Document all services and maintain records in SCCMHA electronic medical record (SENTRI II).
- Provide linking, monitoring, and advocacy services for child/family as needed, including home visits if clinically appropriate.
- Coordinate treatment with various providers, including SCCMHA, DHHS, Juvenile Court, and other agencies as required.
- Prepare documentation, summaries, and notes on specific goals and objectives.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities as needed.
- Comply with SCCMHA mandatory training and meet productivity measures set by providers.
- Uphold the mission, vision, core values, and operating principles of Westlund Guidance Clinic.
Marginal Job Functions
- Perform administrative functions like preparing reports and appearing in court.
- Address community groups and organizations.
- Serve on mental health-related community agency boards supporting SCCMHA's goals.
- Attend meetings, seminars, workshops, and events relevant to public mental health and professional development.
- Adapt productively to changes and handle additional essential tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience with intake assessments and collaboration with schools and other child/family services preferred.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Licensing: LLMSW, LMSW, LLPC, LPC, LLMFT, LMFT, LLP, or LP.
- CAFAS reliability rater preferred.
