Primary Responsibility:
The WIOA Career Coach supports job seekers by conducting intake assessments, determining eligibility for services, and guiding participants through job readiness, training, and employment support programs. This role is responsible for managing an assigned caseload and meeting performance goals as defined by the Michigan Works Administration (MWA).
Essential Job Functions:

Conduct Career Success Strategies (CSS) seminars as assigned.

Assist participants in understanding all available Michigan Works services and resources.

Maintain engagement of participants in WIOA programs and services.

Coordinate follow-up services, job search assistance, case management, supportive services, and training programs.

Collect and verify documentation for participation in all activities (e.g., pay stubs, attendance records, job search logs).

Approve training only through State-approved educational and training providers, as endorsed by the local Workforce Development Board.

Ensure applicants receive required documentation explaining available services and Michigan Works policies (e.g., grievance procedures, EO policy, discrimination policy, release of information).

Determine and monitor eligibility for supportive services and resolve related issues as needed.

Review, update, and maintain accurate case records and reports, including data entry in the Management Information System (MIS).

Make appropriate referrals to partner agencies for services beyond program scope.

Attend MWA-mandated training sessions.
Marginal Job Functions:

Participate in program update meetings with SVRC administrators.

Perform clerical duties including copying and filing.

Attend workshops, meetings, and seminars as directed.

Provide support to program staff and Director as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a concentration in human services.

Associate’s degree with five years of experience in case management or employment-related services may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Experience with Michigan Works Administration programs is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and motivate the public.

Strong communication skills (oral and written) and professional phone etiquette required.

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet goals and deadlines.

Must be willing and able to travel as required.
