You will oversee a team responsible for video services in support of classes and events, participating in the development of the team's strategic goals with an eye toward continuous improvement. You will coordinate with different teams to ensure agreement on objectives and participate in cross-functional projects.
This position is onsite at the University of Michigan's Central Campus in Ann Arbor.
You will report to the Manager of Sight and Sound Operations within LSA Technology Services.
- Leadership and Oversight:
- Provide strategic leadership for the video services team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality video support for classes, events, and projects.
- Oversee all aspects of video services operations including video conferencing, Zoom meetings and webinars, lecture recording services, streaming services, live video production, and other related activities.
- Team Management and Development:
- Supervise and mentor a diverse team of video services professionals, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, facilitate professional development opportunities, and manage staffing needs, including hiring and training new team members.
- Service Improvement and Innovation:
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of existing video services and seek out opportunities for service enhancement and innovation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive the evolution of video service offerings.
- Project Participation and Collaboration:
- Play an active role in cross-functional projects, contributing to initiatives that impact the video services team as well as the wider organization.
- Collaborate with academic departments, IT, communications, and other teams to coordinate video service needs and ensure seamless integration of services across various platforms.
- Quality Assurance and Customer Support:
- Promote procedures that guarantee a high standard of service delivery and operational excellence.
- Ensure excellent customer service is provided to all partners, including faculty, staff, students, and external clients.
- Resolve complex issues and provide guidance on the use of video technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and event experiences.
- Supervisory/management experience
- 3 years experience operating complex audio-visual and computer-based technologies
- 3 years experience operating video and data projection systems and media control systems
Physical Requirements:
- Move and transport objects such as projectors, screens, monitors, equipment carts, AV racks, and AV podia with weight up to 50lbs (frequency of working with the maximum weight may be up to several times a month)
- Travel between buildings during inclement weather
- Move cart-based equipment between buildings
- Work in enclosed spaces in the vicinity of numerous electronic components
- Navigate in enclosed spaces in the vicinity of numerous electronic components
- Navigate to and from work spaces accessible only by stairs
- Ability to sharply focus projected images close up or from distances up to 200 feet
- Communicate with instructors, students, and others with rapid accurate response to spoken directions
