Summary of Responsibilities:
Provides support of real-time control system software to maintain and improve process control systems and machinery throughout the plant. Primary focus will be Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based programming, trouble shooting, and development relating to production equipment. Secondary focus will be in developing and supporting Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) applications relating to part traceability and quality.
Your responsibilities
Work with process/product engineering and maintenance to make necessary changes to equipment for improvements, system upgrades, preventative procedures, product changes, and new product launches
Contributes to cross-functional project teams supporting activities related to controls issues including, but not limited to, programming PLCs, Human Machine Interface (HMI), robots, welders, and troubleshooting electrical controls
Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing production equipment
Conduct verification tests to confirm machine performance and adherence to control design specifications
Assist with updates, modifications, and continuous improvement of existing controls systems including robotic programs, ladder logic programs, relay logic, electrical distribution, motor controls, operator interface, hydraulics, and pneumatics distribution and control
Maintains the upkeep of process control computers, software licensing agreements, and backups of software files to minimize the downtime of manufacturing equipment
Ensures proper controls-specific documentation delivery from the Original Equipment Manufacturer(s) and maintains documents (e.g., electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, panel layouts, PLC, operator display, operator interface, robot programs, and machine power distribution) throughout equipment life cycle and documents any changes during that time
Solves quality problems associated with process control systems and develops software to diagnose quality problems
Supports engineering in the implementation of standards and specifications as it is related to controls systems
Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all Business Unit safety and environmental policies in the workplace
Complies with relevant Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. TS16949, ISO14001)
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Your profile
Associate or Bachelor Degree in a related electrical/software technical field required. An equivalent level of experience may be considered
Solid understanding of computer programming and software development is critical
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex testing of electrical and pneumatic systems
Experience in PLC, HMI, SQL, Vision Systems, robots, and Microsoft office computer and software.
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), tags, and symbols
Some experience in design aspects of P&IDs, instrument ISA data sheets, instrument installation details, low voltage wiring, physical conduit routing and cable tray design, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams and schematics including motor control
Capable to work both independently and as part of a larger group
Preference given to those with work experience using Siemens Step 7, Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000, Ladder Logic, TIA Portal, Ignition SCADA, Python, and SQL
