A skilled Machinist operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to manufacture metallic and nonmetallic parts. An ideal candidate will possess manual dexterity and have an eye for detail. They must also have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain, relate, and promote a positive work environment
Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks e.g., turning, drilling, grinding, milling, hob, shape
Change “standard” cutting tools and reset machine(s) to proper size
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out - of – tolerance conditions
Ability to use precision tools to take accurate measurements (e.g., calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges)
Flexible and willing to take on new tasks; team player with a can-do attitude
Exhibits excellent work ethics
High level of attention to detail and follow through
Knowledge of mathematics with analytical abilities
Required to have sufficient hand tools
Other duties as assigned
Experience using one or more of the following machines Okuma Lathes with Fanuc controls, Mazak Lathes with Mazatrol controls, OKK Drilling & Milling, Okuma drills, CNC Shapers & Hobs
3+ years of manufacturing experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification from a technical school a plus
