This person in this position will serve as the study coordinator primarily for two research projects funded by NIH and the Depression Center led by Dr. Ivy Tso and Dr. Takakuni Suzuki, aiming to investigate the neurobiology of psychosis and bipolar disorder using electroencephalogram (EEG) and daily questionnaires. The person will be responsible for coordinating both projects, including recruiting participants and running study visits. The position requires a 2-year commitment and may be renewable, depending on performance and availability of funding. - Recruit & screen potential subjects via telephone and through interactions with clinicians in psychiatry clinics
- Schedule and consent research participants
- Administer neurocognitive and questionnaire assessments with research participants
- Manage subject records, digital data, and data entry
- Prepare and leading study team meetings
- Supervise undergraduate research assistants
- Oversee all data collection involved in the EEG studies
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a related STEM discipline.
- Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility for work with diverse populations in diverse settings.
- A least 1 year of experience with research involving human subjects.
- Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines related to accessing/handling patient information.
- Basic computer skills - word processing, internet searches, spreadsheets.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented with the ability to understand/follow research protocols
- Candidate must be competent to learn to use specialized lab equipment and software interfaces
- Valid driver's license. Willing to drive regularly between UM campuses within Ann Arbor.
- The ability to work both independently AND within a team. The candidate must be able to work independently for extended periods of time while receiving feedback and guidance from lab manager and faculty supervisors.
- The ability to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines.
- Strong self-motivation and adaptability in order to meet goals/deadlines of the project; so, the ability to problem-solve, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines are needed.
- Flexibility in working hours is often required, depending on the scheduling needs of study participants, including weekends and evenings.
- Experience working with patients with psychiatric disorders
- Experience recruiting participants for human subjects research.
- Experience with behavioral and EEG data acquisition and processing is strongly preferred
- Previous experience working as a member of an inter-disciplinary team is preferred.
Full-time/Days, Mondays-Fridays
This role involves working in a research lab that is centrally-based at the Rachel Upjohn Building on East Medical campus. However, in response to COVID, many aspects of this position may take place remotely, where possible. This will require working from home when job responsibilities permit. The candidate will be expected to maintain efficiency in their role and adhere to the same standards even when work is conducted remotely. The candidate will be expected to adhere to strict guidelines when in close contact with research participants and follow extensive COVID safety guidelines at all times.
