Requirements:
- High school or vocational school diploma or GED.
- Valid EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification or have the required experience and knowledge and obtain certification within 3 Months of employment.
- North American Technician Excellence N.A.T.E. HVAC Support Technician Certificate, ESCO Group Professional Level Technician Certification or similar recognized industry certification or have the required experience and knowledge and obtain certification within 2 Years of employment.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license without restriction affecting performance of job responsibilities.
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated ability in HVACR within healthcare engineering and maintenance or food processing licensed facility engineering and maintenance, or five years of demonstrated ability in commercial building maintenance or construction. HVACR vocational school or associate degree program or other advanced mechanical training or are working as an HVACR technician for a minimum of 3 years, preferred. Will also consider Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) in heating, cooling, refrigeration, or related discipline.
- Valid Boiler Operator’s License through a recognized independent licensing entity, municipality, state or federal agency or have the required experience and knowledge and obtain Boiler Operator’s License within 2 Years of employment.
- Current MECH Health Care Mechanic Certification or have the required experience and knowledge and obtain certification within 30 Months of employment.
- Able to read and comprehend at an intermediate level of understanding construction drawings and specifications, owner and operator manuals, etc. Able to write and draw intermediate level construction drawings and specifications. Possess an intermediate understanding and maintain current understanding with all aspects of the Michigan Mechanical Code (adopted IMC) that apply to the facilities, maintain an intermediate familiarity and understanding of all HVACR equipment, installations and systems within the facilities.
- Able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications, owner and operator manuals, etc. Must be able to write and draw intermediate level construction drawings and specifications.
- Able to verbally communicate with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization. Must be able to effectively communicate, read and construct written communications in English.
- Able to work independently, in support of other technicians, and as a team. Able to prioritize, schedule and effectively conduct work.
- Able to successfully mentor and train others.
- Able to effectively use a computer, tablet, and other technology devices to conduct research on internal and external resources, utilize the department computerized maintenance management system, communicate via email and text messaging, receive and schedule calendar appointments, receive electronic training and receive and respond to alerts from multiple building and equipment management systems, etc.
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills and experience.
- Basic familiarity and understanding of electrical equipment, power distribution and lighting, heating and cooling equipment and systems, and general carpentry and painting.
- Able to perform duties with minimal or no supervision.
