Position Summary
The Wire Specialist is responsible for daily wire activities while adhering to department policies and procedures. They will provide a complete member experience by working with members over the phone or written communication to process their wire request. This position uses sound judgment, professionalism, integrity, accuracy, verification, and expediency in assisting members.
Work Location:
This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working both onsite at the Headquarters 1 building in East Lansing and remotely. A schedule of expected onsite and remote workdays will be discussed during the interview process.
This position requires the ability to work varied hours between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and 8:45 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Saturdays
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All Wire Specialist Employees:
Assist members and co-workers in a friendly, professional manner and support the Credit Union's mission statement via the online banking system (ComputerLine) and on the telephone
Analyze, research, and resolve member's concerns and discrepancies
Maintain availability agent ID for the Department's pilot extension
Manage time efficiently and take initiative with the department; seek opportunity to develop or enhance knowledge
Actively participates in training activities with the department and with Learning and Talent Development Department to ensure compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws
Follow safety and security procedures regarding emergency situations, third party access to secure areas, and communicate suspicious activity to management
Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned
Wire Specialist I:
Receive and process domestic and international wire transfers requests from members with urgency and attention to detail while following Credit Union procedures to protect members and the Credit Union from loss
Record detailed notes to document member interactions, complex situations, and follow up requests
Process and post incoming wire transfer deposits to members' accounts via the Federal Reserve system and faxed requests
For any exceptions, make the determination if exceptions can be posted or need to be returned
Review and complete any research and inquiries received via FedLine, Synapsys or email
Wire Specialist II:
Take ownership of complex wires with confidence and knowledge
Contact members by phone when necessary to clarify details or securely verify details of member requests for wire transfers
Process outgoing domestic and international wire transfers requests using the FedLine and international wire vendor site
Verify domestic and international wire transfers using the FedLine and international wire vendor site
Verify and review all due diligence was performed by reviewing the wire supporting documents and account notes
Evaluate the authenticity of member authorization of the wire request to ensure this requests aligns with the members behavior to reduce potential loss for the member and Credit Union
Download wire text files daily and save appropriately
Participates and provides input and feedback on various projects
Perform all of the Wire Specialist I duties and responsibilities
Wire Specialist III:
Balance the daily wire log to the Federal Reserve to ensure all wires were processed correctly
Balance and maintain general ledgers on a daily basis and resolve any outstanding items in a timely manner
Support Wire Specialists by being available on the HelpLine pilot as needed
Provide overrides for wire requests while following procedures and guidelines
Handle complex member situations with support from others and take appropriate action to resolve them
Proactively assist other team members and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Identify and assist management with implementing process improvements within the Department
Embraces Department vision and goals and actively and regularly works to advance the Department and Credit Union
Perform all of Wire Specialist I, and Wire Specialist II duties and responsibilities
Senior Wire Specialist:
Assist in gathering wire details for various audits
Support the Credit Union strategic direction and initiatives while helping others understand the purpose of decisions and direction
Create and update department procedures and CU Info resources
Assist with leading team meetings
Act as a subject matter expert, train and mentor department staff on wire related topics to ensure new and existing staff have the required knowledge and skills
Assist others in handling complex member situations and take appropriate action to resolve them
Evaluate the Credit Union's wire processes and procedures and offer suggestions for increased efficiencies
Assist management with various projects including investigating new and innovative payment solutions to provide and serve our members
Participates in the promoting and implementing of creative and innovative ideas and solutions for the Department and Credit Union
Perform all of the Wire Specialist I, Wire Specialist II and Wires Specialist III duties and responsibilities
