As a key member of the ISD leadership team, the Associate Director provides the on-going leadership to manage ISD’s portfolio of academic program operations, services, administration, strategies, and partnerships for both on-campus and online students. The Associate Director supervises and manages the ISD team responsible for academic program operations and services, coordinates their efforts across other teams and initiatives, and ensures alignment with ISD leadership, college, and university practices and strategic direction.

Academic Programs Operations, Services, and Administration (60%):
- Responsible for the full range of activities for academic programs day-to-day operations, services, administration, and partnerships, including providing a clear vision, effective strategies, and an optimized framework for implementation and continuous assessment.
- Planning: Develop and manage short- and long-term strategic goals, objectives, and implementation plans for ISD’s academic programs portfolio that are in alignment with ISD’s overall strategic framework; include appropriate methods and the coordination of efforts with other initiatives.
- Admissions: Provide leadership, management, and oversight for: student application and admissions processes; support of recruitment efforts (campaigns, events, site visits); student inquiry processes; coordination with Registrar offices; issue resolution;
- Student Services: Provide leadership, management, and oversight for: a responsive, student-focused environment for academic advising; formal strategies and resources for identifying and addressing students in crisis; exam proctoring; student funding; maintaining student records; monitoring student progress to completion; scholarship program implementation; etc.
- Curriculum Activities: Provide leadership, management, and oversight for: course planning and scheduling; student plans of study processes; course registration and enrollment; course management activities; participation in curriculum/degree program development; etc.
- Instructional Activities: Provide leadership, management, and oversight for: course delivery processes for both on-campus and online; support of instructors, GSIs, and enrolled students; evaluation and assessment processes; information for instructor, curriculum, and program review processes; instructional design resources; etc.
- Assessment: Establish and manage relevant metrics, feedback loops, and evaluation tools; track and analyze data on the effectiveness of activities and strategies; effect on-going continuous improvement.
- Students: Participate in collaboratively optimizing student engagement over the full life cycle spectrum (recruitment, career development, capstones/experiential learning, partnerships, alumni, etc.).
- Integration: Establish and manage academic process workflows for the effective integration of ISD Program Directors, the ISD Associate Chair, and other college and university units as relevant.
- Compliance: Oversee compliance with university and federal policies or regulations (FERPA, FOIA, etc.) and adherence to ISD, college, and university policies and procedures; develop and update ISD policies and procedures as relevant.
- Networks: Serve as a liaison between ISD and other relevant university units or partners as appropriate; manage requests for information about ISD academic programs; network across ISD, the college, and university to ensure effective and compliant implementation of ISD academic programs.
- Partners: Provide relevant leadership and management for industry partner participation in ISD academic programs.
Management and Administrative: (30%)
- Lead, supervise, and pro-actively manage an integrated team of staff responsible for ISD’s academic programs operations, support services, and processes.
- Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; conduct performance appraisals; mentor on-going professional development; establish back-up cross-training; support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
