The primary focus of the lab is to understand the role of tumor suppressor gene PP2A for treatment of cancer. Research will involve using molecular biology tools and in vivo mice models.
The successful job candidate will be performing dissections of tumor tissue, preparation of protein, RNA, and analysis of protein and gene expression by immunoblotting, quantitative PCR, immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry. The individual will also be monitoring and assisting with ongoing mouse studies, genotyping as necessary, and performing tissue culture work with cell lines or primary cells harvested from mice. Duties will also entail general lab maintenance such as ordering supplies and organizing the laboratory as needed.
Research Lab Tech Intermediate qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology or related health science field with a minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory bench research. The individual must be highly motivated, organized, and willing to learn new techniques/concepts, and demonstrate self-improvement. Competence in handling and working with laboratory mice is a must. It is also expected that the individual be able to perform experiments, interpret results, troubleshoot problems, and design additional experiments independently. The individual should also possess excellent communication skills and work well with other individuals.
General working hours schedule is expected but with flexibility.
