We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow to conduct research on novel brain machine interface technology. The role involves comprehensive testing of chronically implanted carbon fiber electrode arrays in neural recording and stimulation applications. Specific aspects of the position include chronic microelectrode implantation surgery, neural recording (electrophysiological and imaging), calcium imaging of electrically stimulated ex vivo retina, behavioral experiments on chronic brain implants. The ideal applicant will have a neuroscience or biomedical engineering background and hands-on experience with chronic device implantation in the brain. The applicant will be trained on other skills required for the role and is expected to lead the development of innovative and rigorous plans for functional assessment of the experimental devices, by drawing on their research experience. The role also includes expectation for mentorship of undergraduate researchers, collaboration with other labs, and leading writing of manuscripts, proposals, and annual reports.
