Position Description:
We are seeking a Software Engineer with deep expertise in ServiceNow Enterprise Architecture, with a strong emphasis on Business Application Lifecycle Management (BALM). This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing application lifecycle strategies that improve visibility, governance, and optimization across the enterprise application portfolio. The ideal candidate brings a strong ServiceNow technical foundation, a systems-thinking mindset, and the ability to translate architecture strategy into scalable platform solutions. Experience with front-end UI development is a plus to enhance user experience and adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Business Application Lifecycle Management (BALM) capabilities within ServiceNow, enabling end-to-end visibility of application portfolios
- Configure and extend ServiceNow Enterprise Architecture modules (e.g., Application Portfolio Management, CMDB, ITBM/SPM) to support lifecycle tracking, rationalization, and governance
- Define and maintain application lifecycle states, standards, and governance models aligned to enterprise architecture practices
- Integrate ServiceNow with upstream and downstream systems to ensure accurate, real-time lifecycle data
- Partner with enterprise architects, product teams, and business stakeholders to identify application rationalization opportunities and reduce technical debt - Develop dashboards and reporting to support decision-making on application health, cost, usage, and lifecycle stage
- Drive automation of lifecycle workflows, including onboarding, assessment, modernization, and retirement processes
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency within the CMDB and application portfolio records
- Contribute to platform scalability, performance optimization, and best practices across ServiceNow implementations

Experience Required:
- 3–6+ years of experience in ServiceNow development or platform engineering
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Enterprise Architecture and/or Application Portfolio Management (APM)
- Strong expertise in Business Application Lifecycle Management (BALM) concepts, processes, and implementation
- Proficiency in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide APIs) and platform configuration
- Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue)
- Solid understanding of application portfolio governance, lifecycle states, and rationalization methodologies
- Experience working with CMDB, data models, and service mapping
- Ability to work cross-functionally with architecture, product, and engineering teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to data accuracy and outcomes
Experience Preferred:
ServiceNow certifications (e.g., CSA, CAD, APM, or Enterprise Architecture-related)
Familiarity with UX/UI best practices to improve usability of ServiceNow applications and dashboards
Experience with API integrations, microservices, or cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.)
Exposure to Agile delivery models and product-centric operating models

Ideally if they are local, would like them to come in once a week, but the role can be 100% remote.
