Position: School Bus Driver
Location: Merrill Community Schools
Reports To: Transportation Secretary
Employment Type: Part Time, with the possibility of additional hours
Job Summary:
Merrill Community Schools is seeking a dedicated and dependable School Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe transportation of students, maintain a positive environment on the bus, and serve as a professional representative of the school district.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Preferred applicants will possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "P" (Passenger) and "S" (School Bus) endorsements.
- Candidates who are otherwise qualified will be trained.
- Must have completed, or be willing to complete, the Michigan School Bus Driver Safety Education Course.
- Must maintain an excellent driving record, free from chargeable accidents and/or numerous traffic violations.
- Ability to accurately follow maps and route instructions.
- Ability to maintain appropriate discipline among student riders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with parents, students, and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
- Must demonstrate patience, consideration, an even temperament, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Must be an existing employee or be able to satisfactorily pass:
- Criminal background check
- Unprofessional conduct background check
- Personal and business references background check
