COST ESTIMATING ENGINEER
Summary
Analyzes math data, blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to supply prints and data for distribution and also for the preparation of time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Download and review incoming math data for both current and new projects.
- Keep a log of all incoming Requests For Quotation (RFQ), Change Notices (CN), Engineering Work Orders (EWO), Engineering Estimates, and any other formal or informal quote requests.
- Download and thoroughly read and analyze customer Statement Of Requirements (SOR), specifications, print & data log information, and GD&T as may be supplied with any Request For Quotation.
- After analyzing quote packages, write up summary of guidelines for submission of quotation to customer.
- Work with Sales Group and Product Engineers and contact the Customer or any supplier as required to establish clarity for all proposed quotations.
- Work with the CAD Department to establish deadlines for supplying developments, data, and/or other required blueprints or information necessary for new quotations or current projects.
- Layout blanks & calculate part nesting, figure die line-up, establish production process, and make any prints necessary to compile cost breakdowns.
- Gather specifications, data, prints, and other information for the purpose of obtaining estimates for components and/or outside services deemed to be required in the manufacturing process for the preparation of customer quotations for parts and assemblies.
- Review for accuracy and sign-off on blueprints prior to control.
