Position Summary
Iroquois Industries is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Support Technician to join our Quality team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our products meet customer and industry quality standards by performing weld testing, material preparation, and product verification activities. The successful candidate will support quality inspections, prepare samples for weld qualification, and assist in maintaining compliance with IATF 16949 requirements while promoting a zero-defect culture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with IATF 16949 quality management requirements.
- Receive MIG weld submissions from Quality Floor Inspectors for evaluation.
- Mark, cut, and prepare parts according to Weld Callout Sheets.
- Prepare samples for the weld qualification process, including proper identification of welds, fixture numbers, dates, and part numbers.
- Polish and etch materials to prepare samples for inspection and verification.
- Perform visual inspections of welds using established weld defect criteria.
- Initiate recut documentation and notify appropriate personnel when weld non-conformances are identified.
- Assist in monitoring weld integrity, torque verification, and product conformance to customer specifications.
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.
- Support the company's Continuous Improvement initiatives and promote a zero-defect mindset.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to following established processes, procedures, and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Director.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or quality environment preferred.
- Experience with weld inspection, metal preparation, polishing, and etching is preferred.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, weld callouts, and inspection documentation is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately document inspection results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of production parts.
- Ability to safely operate cutting, polishing, and inspection equipment.
