Position Title: Paraprofessional
Location: Linwood Elementary
Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year
Classification: Term Position (Not a new position)
Reports To: Director of Instructional Services, Building Principal, and/or Superintendent of Schools
Posting Type: Internal posting for USWA members with concurrent external posting, if needed.
Work Schedule:
- Hours: 3 hours per day (8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.)
- Days: Monday – Friday
- Hours are determined by the Building Principal and/or Superintendent of Schools
- Work is performed on days of student instruction only or as directed by administration
Compensation & Benefits:
- Union Transfer: Wages per Master Contract
- New Hire Rate: $17.20 per hour
- Benefits: Eligible for Category 3 benefits
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining student and program records under the direction of the Director of Instructional Services
- Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce classroom instruction aligned with state standards and benchmarks
- Support classroom teachers with instructional activities and classroom organization
- Perform clerical duties as assigned
- Assist with parent meetings as needed
- Participate in professional development opportunities within and outside the district
- Foster a positive, supportive learning environment for students
- Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications:
- Must meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements through one of the following:
- Associate degree, or
- Approved formal state academic assessment
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, laminators, and fax machines
- Demonstrated understanding of child development and maturity when working with children
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and parents
- Dependable, responsible, organized, and able to follow direction
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
