Position Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Location: High/Middle School
Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year
Classification: Term Position (Not a new position)
Reports To: Classroom Instructor, Special Education Director, and/or Building Principal

Work Schedule:
- Hours: 6.75 hours per day
- Schedule: Monday – Friday
- Time: 7:40 a.m. – 2:55 p.m.
- Lunch: ½-hour unpaid lunch
- Hours are determined by the Building Principal and/or Director of Special Education
- Work is performed on days of student instruction only or as directed by administration
Compensation & Benefits:
- Union Transfer: Wages per Master Contract
- New Hire Rate: $17.40 per hour
- Benefits: Eligible for Category 1 benefits
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the assigned teacher with student supervision, instructional support, record keeping, and program implementation
- Work one-on-one or with small groups of students receiving special education services
- Support developmental learning activities designed to meet each student's educational goals
- Assist with students' personal care needs, including bathrooming and diapering when required
- Monitor student behavior and implement individualized behavior intervention plans
- Assist with behavioral supports and medication needs in accordance with the Special Education Paraprofessional job description
- Complete required documentation and participate in evaluations and in-service training
- Perform clerical duties and other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements through the ETS Parapro Assessment or WORKKEYS
- Ability to operate general office equipment, including computers, copiers, laminators, and fax machines
- Demonstrated understanding of child development and ability to work patiently and professionally with students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and parents
- Dependable, responsible, and able to follow direction
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
