Position Summary
The Drama Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing district drama productions. This position provides students with opportunities to develop theatrical, creative, and performance skills while fostering teamwork, confidence, and artistic expression.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of acting, directing, and the technical aspects of theater, including:
- Set design and construction
- Costuming
- Makeup
- Lighting
- Sound
- Special effects
- Education and experience appropriate for directing a variety of productions, including:
- Musicals
- Dramas
- Comedies
- Tragedies
- Children's theatre
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and direct district theatrical productions
- Coordinate auditions, casting, rehearsals, and performances
- Oversee all technical aspects of productions, including staging, lighting, costumes, props, sound, and set construction
- Supervise students involved in acting and technical theater
- Collaborate with staff, parents, volunteers, and community/business partners
- Maintain a safe and positive environment during rehearsals and performances
- Manage production schedules, budgets, and materials as assigned
- Promote student participation and encourage artistic growth
- Perform additional duties related to district drama productions as assigned

- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work effectively with elementary and secondary students, parents, staff, and community partners
- Availability for after-school, evening, and weekend rehearsals, performances, and related activities
