Position Summary
Diversco Construction Company is hiring an experienced CDL Class A Driver to transport heavy construction equipment and bulk materials in support of our active utility, site work, and underground construction projects across greater Grand Rapids and West Michigan. Work is often performed in urban and tight-access environments where professionalism, planning, and care matter as much as driving ability. This is a full-time, hourly position based out of our Byron Center yard with daily travel to job sites within roughly a 60–75 mile radius.
Work Location & Schedule
- Based out of Byron Center yard (7964 Clyde Park Ave SW, Byron Center, MI).
- Requires daily travel to active job sites across the Service Area
- Service area: greater Grand Rapids and West Michigan (typically within 60–75 miles)
- Schedule: 10-hour days, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work as job demands require
- Overnight travel is not anticipated
Responsibilities
Equipment Transport:
- Safely transport heavy construction equipment between the Byron Center yard and active job sites using the company lowboy trailer and truck tractors
- Plan routes with appropriate awareness of bridge limits, urban routing, time-of-day restrictions, and worksite access constraints
- Coordinate with project foremen on arrival timing, drop locations, and pickup scheduling
Material Hauling:
- Haul soil, aggregates, spoil, and other bulk materials using company dump trailers
- Tarp loads, operate air tailgates, and follow site dump protocols
Compliance & Maintenance:
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily; document and report any defects
- Maintain accurate driver logs and required DOT records; submit medical card, MVR documentation, and other required paperwork to the office in a timely manner
- Keep assigned tractor, trailers, and securement equipment clean and in good working order; report mechanical issues promptly to the shop
- Comply with all FMCSA, MDOT, and local regulations, including hours-of-service and electronic logging requirements
Site & Team Support:
- Communicate professionally with project foremen, operators, customers, and the public — especially in urban work environments
- Support the broader operations team during weather days, slow periods, or as otherwise assigned
