The instructor will lead courses on beer fundamentals and support the Beverage Management program by providing sensory education centered on beer brewing and historical styles. Responsibilities include managing lab safety, engaging students through diverse teaching strategies, developing course curriculum alongside the program director from June 1 to August 24, and starting to teach the week of August 24.
To qualify, candidates need an associate's degree with two years of experience in a related field or five years of relevant experience. Certification requirements include a ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certificate and an alcohol safety certificate before the start date, as well as a Cicerone Certification Level 2 or higher. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience and a bachelor's degree. Instructors will teach beer styles, conduct tastings, manage lab environments, assess student performance, and oversee legal compliance regarding alcohol evaluation.
They must maintain professional conduct, ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards, and actively participate in professional development. The adjunct faculty are also responsible for grading, maintaining accurate records, developing syllabi, and completing college reporting requirements. The physical demands of the role may include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
